Practical, self-contained guides that don't fit the structured Learning Path, but are worth knowing anyway.
Search Engine Visibility
Search engine visibility is how easily people can find your website through Google and, increasingly, through AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's own AI Overviews and AI Mode. Since July 2026, Google answers most searches with an AI-generated response by default instead of leading with a list of links, so visibility now depends on being crawlable, well-structured, and citable, not just on ranking high on a results page.
How to Transfer a Domain Name
Transferring a domain name means moving its registration from one registrar to another while keeping the domain itself and, if you set it up correctly, your existing website and email untouched. The process is mostly waiting: unlocking the domain, getting an authorization code, starting the transfer at the new registrar, and confirming it by email. Most transfers complete in five to seven days.
How to Check Website Traffic
If it's your own site, Google Analytics (GA4) gives you exact, real numbers for free. If it's someone else's site, no free tool gives you their exact traffic. Tools like Similarweb, Semrush's free traffic checker, and Ahrefs' free traffic checker give reasonable estimates based on modeled data, not the site's actual analytics.
How to Find Who Links to Your Website
The most reliable free way to find who links to your own website is Google Search Console's Links report, since it shows real backlinks Google has actually found, not an estimate. If you want a broader picture, including links Google hasn't crawled yet, free tiers from Ahrefs, Semrush, or Moz's Link Explorer will show a partial list, capped well below their paid results.
