Privacy Policy

We do not create accounts or store your scan results on any server. Everything you do in INDEXED. - your scan history, learning progress and preferences - stays in your own browser. We do use Google Analytics to see aggregate traffic patterns, covered in full below.

• Your name, email address or any contact details, unless you voluntarily submit them through our contact form or the email signup in the footer
• Your scan results or the URLs you check - these are never sent to or stored on our servers beyond the single stateless fetch needed to run the scan
• Your learning progress, XP or quiz answers - these stay in your browser only
• Any account, login or profile data - INDEXED. does not have accounts

INDEXED. uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic - which pages get used, roughly how many visitors we get, and general location and device data. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this and may collect your IP address as part of that process.

We do not use this data to identify you individually, and we do not connect it to anything you do inside the tool itself - your scans, learning progress and preferences are never sent to Google Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using a browser extension such as the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.

All data generated by your use of INDEXED. - your scan result, domain, learning progress, theme preference, weekly task state - is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This means:

• It never leaves your device
• We cannot access it
• It is not synced across devices or browsers
• Clearing your browser data removes it permanently

When you enter a URL and hit “Check my site”, our server fetches that public URL to read its HTML - the same thing a browser does when visiting any website. The result is returned to your browser and stored locally. We do not log the URL you scanned, the result, or any identifier linking the scan to you. The scan is stateless: once the response is sent, we retain nothing.

If you use the contact form or the “leave your email” box in the footer, what you submit is sent directly to our inbox by email. It is not saved in a database or added to marketing software - it lives in our email account like any other message we receive, and is used only to reply to you or, if you signed up in the footer, to occasionally follow up about INDEXED.

INDEXED. is hosted on Netlify. Like all web hosting, their infrastructure may log basic request metadata such as IP addresses and timestamps at the server level for security and operational purposes. This is standard practice and outside our control. Please refer to Netlify's own privacy policy for details. We do not access or process these logs.

Fonts are loaded via Next.js's built-in font system, which downloads and self-hosts Google Fonts at build time. No request is made to Google's font servers when you visit INDEXED.

INDEXED. is intended for adults running websites or businesses. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 16.

If we make material changes to how data is handled - for example if we introduce accounts or any new server-side storage - we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date at the top. We recommend checking back if you use INDEXED. regularly.
